Community Legal Education

Youth Legal Service provides community legal education (CLE) that aims to:

  • Increase community awareness and understanding of legal issues affecting young people.
  • Increase understanding of legal rights and responsibilities as well as awareness of the purpose and function of the legal processes and institutions affecting young people.

CLE is primarily concerned with improving young people’s ability to access, use and critically evaluate the law and legal processes, particularly those young people at risk or in conflict with the law. It works to reduce barriers, prejudice and discrimination that young people may face in the law and legal processes.

CLE for young people is always provided free of charge. CLE can also be provided to youth agencies and the general community.

Workshops are generally only conducted in the metropolitan area due to resource constraints.
